Infrared Systems for Texas venus

Secure, wireless audio carried on invisible light. Infrared systems deliver clear, private sound to listeners while keeping the signal inside the room.

Infrared Systems

What Is an Infrared System?

An infrared (IR) assistive listening system sends sound from your microphones, mixer, or AV system to portable receivers using modulated infrared light, similar to a TV remote but carrying high-quality audio. Listeners wear headphones, earbuds, or a neckloop connected to a receiver and hear the program at their own volume.

Because infrared light does not pass through walls, the audio stays inside the room where it is transmitted. That makes IR a strong choice for spaces where privacy matters or where several rooms need separate programs without interference.

Why Choose an Infrared System?

  • Audio stays in the room for privacy and confidentiality
  • No radio interference, and no license or frequency coordination needed
  • Adjacent rooms can use the same system without crosstalk
  • Personal volume control for every listener
  • Clear, consistent sound quality across the coverage area

How It Works

Audio from your sound system feeds an IR transmitter, or modulator, which drives one or more emitters that flood the room with an invisible infrared signal. Each listener picks up a receiver, plugs in headphones or a neckloop, and the receiver converts the light back into sound. Guests with telecoil-equipped hearing aids or cochlear implants can use a neckloop to send the audio directly to their devices.

The result: clear, direct sound without background noise or reverberation.

Where Infrared Systems Excel

Courtrooms

Confidential proceedings where the audio must not leak outside the room.

Theaters

Performance spaces where listeners face the stage and the program stays within the auditorium.

Conference Rooms

Boardrooms and meeting spaces handling sensitive discussions.

Multi-Room Facilities

Buildings with neighboring rooms that each need their own program with no overlap.

Why Venues Choose Infrared Systems

Infrared systems create a better experience for guests, jurors, and attendees who struggle to follow speech in a busy or echoing room. Listeners get clear sound at their own volume, and venues get the assurance that the signal stays where it belongs.

For facilities with security or privacy requirements, IR offers a simple way to provide accessibility without broadcasting audio beyond the walls. Receivers can be checked out at a desk or usher station, and the system expands easily as your needs change.

Planning an Infrared System Installation

Every venue is unique, and a successful installation begins with a detailed assessment of the space, the existing sound system, and how your audience will use it. Because infrared needs a clear path between emitters and receivers, we plan emitter placement and coverage carefully, and we account for lighting and room layout.

After installation, we provide testing, calibration, and documentation to ensure the system meets ADA requirements and performs reliably for years to come. Ongoing support is available whenever you need adjustments, upgrades, or additional areas.

Hearing Aid and Neckloop Compatibility

IR receivers work with standard headphones and earbuds, and with neckloops that send audio to the telecoil (T‑coil) found in most modern hearing aids and cochlear implants.

Pairing an IR system with neckloops gives listeners a choice of how they hear the program, making IR a flexible and secure assistive listening solution.
